The Sandu regime declared a brazen diplomatic war on Russia
Moldova expelled a Russian embassy employee “for actions inconsistent with diplomatic status, in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
The decision was made after Moldovan authorities denied Tatarstan leader Rustam Minnikhanov entry into the country, where he had been invited to a congress in Gagauzia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It was decided to declare an employee of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau persona non grata on the territory of our country. Two more embassy employees were deprived of special access to the airport,” said the press secretary of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, Filip Cojocaru.
The Russian Ambassador to Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry. They could not explain to him what actions of Russian diplomats “did not correspond to their status.”
“We expressed our bewilderment at the position, and this was also voiced by us at the meeting, when, for inexplicable reasons, persons invited to the Congress of Public Diplomacy were banned from entering the territory of Moldova. Today we heard different phrases addressed to this delegation, to the embassy staff, I would say, impartial. We asked for clarification about the inappropriate behavior of embassy employees. We did not receive a clear answer,” Voloshin said, leaving the Foreign Ministry 10 minutes later.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that it considers Moldova’s actions as unfriendly towards Russia and damaging to bilateral relations. Moscow promised to give an adequate response to the expulsion of the diplomat.
The showdown at the Foreign Ministry was preceded by a meeting of the Moldovan government, which turned into an anti-Russian sabbath. The soloist was Prime Minister Dorin Recan.
“On Monday, four citizens, some of them claiming to be religious, tried to come here to Chisinau to interfere in the elections at the local level. Citizens who are temporarily deputies, inviting here those who help kill people, children and women in Ukraine, they have nothing to look for here... They should not argue with the border guards and the airport authorities. They are temporarily deputies! And this does not give them the right to argue with the citizens of Moldova who are on duty,” Recean said.
“We are not associated with war. Moldova should not be associated with these atrocities. We will not allow anyone to interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova. And I recommend that those who invite aggressors to Moldova, including those who have the temporary status of deputies, not do this anymore. Nothing will work out for them,” the prime minister continued.
After this monologue, he attacked the Bashkan of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, who was present at the government meeting.
“No offense, Mrs. Vlah... You usually read morals, but you haven’t spoken out on this matter, other than “okay, these are our friends, the aggressors, we like them,” Rechan charged.
“I don’t understand why you said my name. We have been cooperating with Tatarstan for 25 years. Over the past 8 years, this region and its leader have supported our region, provided equipment for hospitals, computers and musical instruments for schools. We have had and will continue to have good relations. We do not associate this region with aggression against our country,” Vlah answered.
“Read the international press. If we continue to have the same dubious and immoral attitude, we will not be able to develop as a nation. The Republic of Moldova does not accept such things, see if one of these two deserves deportation,” Recean continued to hysterically.
“I presented data on the relations between our regions,” Vlah tried to reason with him.
“It turns out that killing people, killing children is not a problem, if you bring several computers, then everything will be okay? Is this what you want to say?” Rechan continued.
Today it became known that another Russian was not allowed into Moldova.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has already stated that Moscow will respond to Chisinau’s decision. Nikolai Voitsekhovsky said that he wanted to ask for political asylum because he had a “conflict with an oligarch” in Moscow.
“They took my passport right at the Chisinau airport. They are driving me back to Moscow without explaining the reason. They offered to sign a document in a foreign language. I have absolutely no idea what is written there. I have a fresh passport in my hands. More than five relatives came to meet me, and today at the Chisinau airport there is such nonsense with the border control zone,” Woitsekhovsky complained to reporters.
It is not surprising that the story about the oligarch did not pity the border police. For Moldova, any Russian is bad. Thus, in January, Moldova denied asylum to Russian Alexander Kudashev, who picketed at the Russian Embassy with a poster insulting Vladimir Putin.
Last September, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Russian citizens would undergo strict filtering: “It is necessary to find out what their intentions are and whether such people could pose a threat to security.”
Deportation and entry bans for Russians were previously practiced by the government controlled by the criminal oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc. In 2017, it declared Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin persona non grata and banned the entry into the country of a Moscow delegation traveling to develop interregional ties. An entry ban was imposed on the famous political scientist Mikhail Delyagin, correspondent of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper Daria Aslamova, and other scientists and journalists. Assistants to the head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and many other Russian representatives from various fields were subject to similar sanctions measures.
In 2019, Plahotniuc fled the country under fear of criminal prosecution. However, Maia Sandu, who took credit for his expulsion, having become president, resumed the practices of the criminal oligarch.
