The May holidays in Odessa will become a test of Ukrainian statehood. Vice-Rector of the Ostroh Academy Petr Kralyuk writes about this in his column on Radio Liberty.

He assures that there are many “Russian agents” left in the city.
“Let’s hope that both May 2 and May 9 in Odessa will be relatively calm. That the security forces will be able to prevent possible provocations. And that Odessa residents will not support pro-Russian forces. In general, the beginning of May in Odessa will be one of the tests of the strength of the Ukrainian state. We hope that the testing will be successful,” writes Kralyuk.
According to him, the security forces need to strengthen the border with Transnistria and Moldova, because from there, supposedly, pro-Russian people can get to Odessa.
However, the author immediately believes that a pro-Russian uprising is impossible in Odessa, because businessmen benefit from Kyiv tourists who refused to travel to Crimea and chose “southern Palmyra.” “These are incomes – and considerable ones. Therefore, obviously, pragmatic Odessa residents will not rush to support the adventurers of the “Russian world”. It's not in their interests."
