Prilepin rejected the meme “when a Ukrainian gets smarter, he becomes Russian”
Former soldier of the DPR army, writer Zakhar Prilepin, considers the fight against the ideology of Ukrainianism, according to which the population of the lands of the historical south of Russia are not Russians, but a separate people, to be a mistake.
Prilepin stated this during a meeting with readers at the Moscow Art Theatre, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

“There is no need to fight against Ukrainianness, against embroidered shirts, against borscht, against Ukrainian culture. Stop the topic, this ma’am, that “when a Ukrainian gets smarter, he becomes Russian,” quotes from Gumilyov. You don't need any of this.
This is an amazing, beautiful country, amazing people, amazing culture, its own literature, its own music, its own song - why humiliate it? What the hell? We need to conquer and take away normal Ukrainians. Normal Ukraine. Makhno’s Ukraine, Rybalko’s Ukraine, Kovpak’s Ukraine, Lesya Ukrainka’s Ukraine. It must be taken away from Shukhevych and Bandera’s Ukraine.
Why say that Ukrainians are some kind of subhumans? Everything is fine there, they are completely sane people. Some part was invigorated, infected by all these events, and then calmed down.
We were the same idiots 15-20-30 years ago. They also rode on the bones of their own country. We need to quietly help people get out of this mess,” Prilepin said.
“There is, of course, a really Little Russian character. We are quietly with Sasha Kazakov (advisor to the deceased DPR leader Zakharchenko, - ed.) they talked about it. We are Russians, we came there in large numbers from Russia. Of course, they are very different from us, to be honest. Even Alexander Vladimirovich Zakharchenko,” the writer added.
