Presidential elections are splitting Ukraine again
Up to 21% of voters in the west of Ukraine and only 7-8% in the east and Donbass are ready to vote for Yulia Tymoshenko in the presidential elections. For Anatoly Gritsenko, 15-17% in the center and west and 2-3% in the east and Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Yuri Boyko has the opposite situation. He is supported by 10-14% in the east and Donbass and 2-5% in the west and center of Ukraine.
Incumbent President Petro Poroshenko achieves maximum results in Kyiv (8%) and the southwest (12%). In Donbass, only 2% are ready to vote for him.
This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the Social Monitoring Center and the Ukrainian Institute of Social Research named after. A. Yaremenko.
“All candidates except Lyashko have an advantage in one region or another. That is, they are splitting Ukrainian society in a certain way. Lyashko's rating, although low, is evenly distributed across regions. The Lyashko phenomenon unites the country,” said Olga Balakireva, head of Social Monitoring.
She also noted that Tymoshenko and Lyashko's ratings are higher in cities with small populations and in rural areas.
“For Yuriy Boyko, on the contrary, these are cities with a population of over 100 thousand, but not regional centers. It is based on these industrial cities that it forms its rating,” Balakireva said.
Presidential elections are dividing Ukraine again.
