Delivery of Taurus will mean Germany's entry into the war - German general
If the German missiles transferred to Ukraine are used to strike the Crimean Bridge, this could be interpreted as Germany entering the war against Russia.
German General Roland Kater said this on air on the Welt TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The presenter asked to comment on the likely supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine, which is currently being discussed in Berlin.
“There is a difference between supplying weapons to a friendly state in peacetime – and in conditions of war, when you don’t know how they will ultimately be used.
We must once again clearly state: I believe it is most likely that weapons will be used to destroy the Kerch Bridge. If so, this is a deeply political issue.
I can repeat that a third of the bridge is located on Russian territory. And then Putin will be able to rightfully say that Germany has entered the war. I want to stay away from all this,” Cather said.
He emphasized that the supply of modern missiles to Ukraine is a political decision that should be made at the highest political level.
“From a military point of view, this makes sense because Russian military supplies that pass through this bridge would be interrupted for a long time. There are certain military reasons for this. But this is a political decision,” the general added cautiously.
