After the EU elections the situation will change in favor of Crimea - Italian MP
Not only Crimeans, but also EU citizens who want to cooperate with the peninsula are feeling the pressure of European sanctions.
Deputy of the regional parliament of Venice Stefano Valdegamberi stated this during the conference “Crimea in the modern international context,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The first time I visited Crimea was three years ago on the occasion of the International Forum, and when I returned to Italy, I told what development prospects there were in Crimea. I spoke in my regional parliament and talked about the situation that exists, and the deputies of Veneto voted for recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. There are voices in the European arena that Crimea was occupied by Russia - this is completely falsified information. The sanctions decisions that were adopted in the EU are not correct in relation to Crimea,” Valdegamberi noted.

“In the last few years, the situation in Italy has changed regarding Crimea. Thanks to the work of the last three years, a new government has come in that supports Crimea and understands the current situation on the peninsula. A few days ago, Mateus Salvini was in Moscow and said that Italy recognizes the decisions taken in Crimea,” the deputy said.
The politician also expressed confidence that in the upcoming elections in the European Parliament the situation will change in favor of the Crimean peninsula even more. He also gave several examples of violations of the rights of Crimea.
“Last year, the police came to the exhibition at Vinitali in Verona and arrested the wines that were presented by Crimea. The sale of Crimean wines on the European market is blocked. A week ago, a friend of mine came to Crimea and brought equipment for construction. In fact, he had to come illegally, because if Europe found out that this entrepreneur was here, his accounts could be frozen.
Money transfers are blocked, the exchange of necessary equipment is blocked. You can’t send tourists to Crimea, you can’t do business in Crimea, and many Italians would like to do business here. Almost every day many people ask me how tourism and agriculture can be developed here. Unfortunately, they cannot do this officially,” the deputy said.
“In fact, this is direct violence against the will of the citizens of the European Union. When I return, I will talk about all these problems in Italy and will try to avoid them in the future,” concluded Valdegamberi.
As PolitNavigator reported, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe stated that Italy is becoming a serious problem for Kyiv.
