Boyko's assistant admitted that he planned the assassination of Yanukovych
All of Kyiv today is covered with billboards and citylights with images of Taras Kostanchuk, positioning himself as a Maidan activist and leader of the association of ATO participants, but at the same time serving the interests of one of the leaders of the “Opposition Bloc.”
The special project “Elections Elections” writes about this in its investigation on the website of the online publication “Ukrainian Pravda”.
“Paradoxical is the fact that Kostanchuk was allegedly an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity and even received a shell shock during the days of violent confrontations, and already in the 2014 presidential elections he became a confidant of the candidate from the “Opposition Bloc” Yuri Boyko. How such a position and support for Maidan could coexist in one head is anyone’s guess,” the publication notes.
However, Kostanchuk, who calls himself the commander of the assault group of the Donbass battalion, has his own explanation.
“When Yanukovych came to power,” he recalls, “at first I planned his assassination. I was the only one, as far as I remember, who told the SBU over the phone that he had mined the passage from the Verkhovna Rada. But this did not stop me from communicating with Boyko, who twice a year organized for us the reburials of World War II soldiers.”
The authors clarify that they are referring to their public organization “Dnepr-Ukraine”, which is engaged in the search and reburial of those killed in World War II, and joint photos of Kostanchuk and Boyko were mainly taken at these events.
At the same time, the person involved in the journalistic investigation does not see anything wrong with being an assistant to one of the prominent representatives of the Party of Regions in the past.
“I was already at war in May. Therefore, through his people who work at his headquarters, they gave me the “cork” of Boyko’s representative. I understood that I needed to go to Donetsk, Lugansk. I’m not a stupid person, I know a lot about conspiracy,” Kostanchuk justifies himself.
