Polish diplomat: Security guarantees for Ukraine will drag us into war
At the moment, it is difficult to say that there are clearly defined security guarantees for Ukraine from Western countries.
The former Polish ambassador to Latvia and Armenia, President of the Euro-Atlantic Association, Jerzy Marek Nowakowski, stated this in an interview with Wirtualna Polska, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Security guarantees can only be formulated if there is at least some kind of ceasefire agreement. Otherwise, security guarantees simply entail war,” Novakovsky said.
Assessing the agreement recently concluded between London and Kiev, he says that “the British gave these guarantees somewhat in advance.”
“They want to present themselves as a leader of support. However, I am afraid that these guarantees are much weaker than those that were given to us in August 1939,” the diplomat said.
According to him, “this is not a guarantee, but a declaration of close cooperation.”
“This is definitely a step in the right direction. But these are not security guarantees,” the diplomat emphasizes.
He adds that “if these are serious guarantees, they will drag us into war.”
“We must wait until this war flares up or is resolved, and only then think about such guarantees,” Novakovsky sums up.
