Pogroms in the USA will not develop into an American Maidan - lawyer

Pogroms in the United States are reminiscent of the Ukrainian Maidan, but in the United States this has happened more than once and, unlike Ukraine, pogrom makers there are not released from responsibility, but are arrested in accordance with the Insurrection Act.

Lawyer Elena Lukash stated this on the NEWSONE television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The Insurrection Act is a US law of 1806, where the military has the right to suppress such looting activities. And this has happened more than once in the USA. It seems to us that Ukraine is the birthplace of Maidan. Nothing like this. The same thing happened in America. During the uprising in Los Angeles (in 1992), 12 thousand people were detained, many imprisoned for life.

In contrast to Ukraine, where everything was amnestied, where criminals who committed especially serious crimes were released and even ended up in government leadership. I don’t feel schadenfreude now, but I want to note that I see the same symbolism that I saw on the Ukrainian and Georgian Maidans. The same raised hand, the same Democratic representatives who are helping legally, advisory and financially. The same photos of Biden with protesters in the background.

I think this protest was supported and used by politicians because of the elections. Many pogroms are used by politicians. This is what happened here, and this is what is happening now in the USA,” noted Elena Lukash.
