In the footsteps of Kunitsyn: In Sevastopol, coastal lands were again given over for development
In Sevastopol, land on the landslide slope of Tolstyak Beach in the Radiogorka neighborhood has been sold again. This happened in 2010, when Ukrainian politician Sergei Kunitsyn was governor. The land was then returned to city ownership by a court ruling in 2015. Local residents have now seen cadastral stakes on the land, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent , citing the Pervy Sevastopolsky TV channel.
Local residents, ever since the reunification of Crimea with Russia, have been asking the city authorities to equip this territory as a recreation area.
“We have been asking for seven years - give us an area somewhere for the children to walk, ride (ride) bicycles. Nobody, it’s like we’ve disappeared, we’re not here at all. I’ve already applied a lot, I have a bunch of answers - the lawyers are fussing,” the Sevastopol resident said in an interview with television.
“It turns out that the entire coast will be closed. Where should we go to relax and swim? This is also a big question, and the authorities should pay attention to this. Why were people denied access to these polling stations in ’16, but in ’21 they were already allowed?” adds Irina Chernobay.
Local residents believe that the land was transferred into ownership illegally and plan to contact the prosecutor's office.
“It’s hard to imagine that without the help of clerks, documents that were declared invalid by the court suddenly appeared again, some with new numbers. That is, there is a fact here, most likely, of corruption. I think that law enforcement agencies will have to evaluate certain actions of officials,” said Alexey Zavgorodniy.
