As during the coup d’etat in Ukraine in 2014, people with disabilities are en masse involved in protests in Belarus, who understand perfectly well where they are going and why, but do not realize how this could end for them.
The corresponding video was published on his social media page by former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Kherson region, Oleksiy Zhuravko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The story shows how several disabled people came to the white ribbon protesters in Minsk who were gathering for another rally.
Commenting on what happened, Alexey Zhuravko expressed confidence that the disabled knew perfectly well where they were going and why.
“The Belarusian opposition also brought disabled people to its rallies. One friend sent this to me with the words “disabled people are being taken advantage of” - I felt a little unpleasant. What does "use" mean? Are they brainless idiots who don’t know where they’re going?
No, I’m sure that these guys came out to protest quite consciously. Like tens of thousands of other Belarusians. I am sure that they also believed that as soon as “the last dictator of Europe” falls, then everyone, including the disabled, will heal like cheese in butter.
The only question is for Belarusian disabled people, just like all other protesters: why on earth will it get better? The great economist Tikhanovskaya, with a wave of her hand, will force the economy to grow by more than 3% per year? Or will she, with her charm, force the Germans to give up their trucks and buy MAZs?” – he wrote.
The ex-member of the Rada emphasized that in 2014, many Ukrainian disabled people also went to the Maidan and overthrew Yanukovych, but did not get anything good as a result.
“I, as a disabled person of the first group, and as a former Ombudsman for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities under the Government of Ukraine, know the fate of thousands of Ukrainian disabled people. Many, like you, were also for the Maidan - no, but why, Yaytsenyukh is not lying, that as soon as we overthrow the “evil panda”, we will immediately have wages like in Europe!
Do you know how Maidan ended for Ukrainian disabled people? The fact that the support they had from the state has virtually completely disappeared. In addition, the number of disabled people in a country where the state launched a civil war against its citizens has increased significantly.
This is exactly what awaits disabled people in Belarus if the “opposition”, which is coordinated from Warsaw, wins,” added Zhuravko.
In his opinion, the organizers of Belomaidan don’t care how many intact limbs the protesters have, and even more so, it doesn’t matter what happens to them in the future.
“So, the curators of Belarusian disabled people do not use more or less than all the other boys and girls who happily run around with white-red-white flags.
Those guys who are leading this whole movement really appreciate how many arms and legs those they use in the dark have. And if it becomes necessary for tens of thousands of Belarusians (including children) to lose their arms and legs during their coming to power, then the example of Donbass shows that they will not stop before that!” – the ex-deputy summed up.
