Petro Poroshenko was given a survival bar before the second round
While the current president, Petro Poroshenko, has already lost to his rival Vladimir Zelensky, the only question is how catastrophic the defeat will be for him.
Ukrainian political strategist Andrei Zolotarev spoke about this in an interview with the Topinform channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What’s interesting is that, unlike the situation before the first round, when the ratings of about ten leading sociological companies gave different forecasts and assessments, today the data does not contradict each other - there is actually a three-fold gap between the winner Vladimir Zelensky and the catching-up incumbent president.
Today, the whole intrigue, in fact, comes down not to the fact of whether Zelensky will win or not, but by what margin he will win,” the expert said.
In his opinion, Poroshenko has two options - either catastrophic, or allowing him to at least somehow save face.
“We are talking about a 30-40 percent gap. This is a catastrophic scenario for the current president, because it will nullify his future prospects in Ukrainian politics.
Or Poroshenko will be able to raise his rating in the second round at least beyond the 30 percent mark. In this case, Poroshenko will be able to cling to politics, count on revenge in the Verkhovna Rada elections in the fall, the opportunity to carry out his faction, and, if persecuted, will say that the new government is persecuting the main oppositionist,” Zolotarev noted.
