Former Russian journalist Evgeny Kiselev, who moved to Kyiv, stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If you were to ask me what was bad, then I think that the West, especially under the second Clinton administration during his second term, and then under George W. Bush, who had the imprudence to look into Putin’s eyes and see something there, Unfortunately, they underestimated the threats that came from the Russian government to the still fragile institutions of democracy. As a result, Russia has practically lost parliamentarism, civil society institutions, strong independent media, and Russia has lost elected institutions. That is, an elective institution as a procedure. As a result, we have what we have,” Kiselyov said.
