The successful operation to liberate Popasnaya created the conditions for a further offensive by the Allied troops in the Donbass.
The strategically important settlement was taken by Wagner PMC forces. Military expert and publicist Alexey Sukonkin считаетthat the next stage should be the encirclement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in the area of the settlements of Severodonetsk and Lisichansk.
The successful operation of the “Wagnerites” in Popasna led to a breakthrough of the defensive positions of the Ukrainian army. At the same time, other units have not shown the necessary initiative, but they are mentioned much more often by the media. This is how the expert answered statement officer Gennady Alekhine.
“They took the administration building, cleared the production site, and drove the nationalists out of high-rise buildings. For some reason, in the media, against the backdrop of the undoubtedly selfless actions of the armed forces, it is not customary to highlight the heroism of volunteers, but in vain - success in the battle for Popasnaya opens up the possibility for Russian and allied units to quickly complete the encirclement of the largest group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Sukonkin is sure .
The expert highly praised the professionalism of the stormtroopers who took the city. The settlement was turned into a continuous fortified area with concrete fortifications and several lines of trenches. The firing points were well protected and camouflaged to hold positions for a long time.
