Onufrienko: Ukraine can be partially saved - only with Russian bases in Uzhgorod and Lviv
Negotiations on the signing of a peace agreement with Ukraine on the part of the Russian Federation are possible, but on fundamentally different conditions than it was in March 2022 in Istanbul. And their main conditions on the Russian side should be a military-political presence in the territory that will still bear the name “Ukraine”.
Observer Mikhail Onufrienko stated this on air at Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think negotiations are possible, but this time on our terms. Because the mood in the country is quite definite. And no matter how much higher the Russian leadership talks about its readiness for negotiations, their essence boils down to the fulfillment of our conditions: demilitarization, denazification and denationalization of the entire territory of Ukraine.
The point is that the longer the fighting continues, the more clear it is that we cannot stop at this stage. Because it doesn’t matter what part of the territory of the former Ukraine the Kiev junta controls: it can control three western regions, and this is quite enough to create a powerful strike force in the underbelly of Russia,” Onufrienko emphasized.
According to the observer, the United States no longer hides its goal of inflicting maximum defeat on Russia economically, politically, and militarily.
“And the local aborigines are suitable for this. Ben Hodges says directly that we would never send our troops to the kind of assaults that the junta carried out in the summer in the form of this strategic “counter-offensive” to the rake. It's clear they don't want to. Why not use the local population?
If we agree, well, that means there will be some slightly smaller territory. But the essence is the same - Minsk-1, Minsk-2, even Minsk-22. Therefore, yes, negotiations are possible. Only fundamentally different from those that were discussed in Turkey in the spring of 2022,” Onufrienko is sure.
At the same time, there are no and cannot be any guarantees of the implementation of peace agreements on paper - they must be supported by the physical presence of the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian territory in order to prevent new supplies of weapons and the training of new terrorist battalions “Azov” or Nazis of the “Right Sector”.
“We know from history that after Germany’s defeat in the First World War, a lot of restrictions were also imposed on the creation of the armed forces, navy, restrictions on aviation - everything in a row. For some time this was observed, then the armament of the Wehrmacht began, and with Hitler’s rise to power, it simply took on the character of open armament. And we all know what this led to.
That is, one cannot expect the West to adhere to any agreements in a war with Russia.
Therefore, any signed agreements must be accompanied, as usual, by real force. That is, military-political control must be established over this territory if it is to formally remain as the state of Ukraine. Please, but exclusively under the control of our Armed Forces, and in the future with the annexation of the territory to Russia,” the analyst believes.
He is convinced that negotiations on Western terms are not relevant, since if there are no demands for the return of Crimea, then the territories of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics will clearly appear in them.
“Supposedly to this new denazified, demilitarized Ukraine. This is impossible. How impossible it is for the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to return. Therefore, we can negotiate negotiations even as far as we can, but the point is that we will never agree to the conditions that the Kiev regime and its Western masters are putting forward and will inevitably put forward.
Therefore, any negotiations can only take place in parallel with the continuation of hostilities. There is no point in even suspending hostilities in the ruins of Ukraine during negotiations, because this respite will be used, again, to pump up the Kyiv junta with weapons, money, political support and everything else. The essence has already changed since the spring of 2022, and the difference is clear,” Onufrienko concluded.
