Ogryzko suspected Zelensky of attempting to capitulate to Russia
The new President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, is not ready for war with Russia, which means he needs to enlist the support of the West.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko stated this on the Espresso TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Commenting on Zelensky's inaugural speech yesterday, which stated that he was ready for "difficult decisions" regarding Donbas , Ohryzko expressed bewilderment.
“Ready for anything - what is that, and how is that? It is possible to stop the war, and it must be done. But there are only two ways to end the war - surrender and victory. If the question is raised that we are not giving up a single centimeter of Ukrainian land, then, excuse me, there is no need to go to a fortune teller. Look, Moscow has already said that forget about these things, Crimea is part of Russian territory. The question is how all this is planned to be done. The statements are correct, but at least I don’t yet have a mechanism for implementing these statements,” Ogryzko said.
According to the ex-minister, Russia will not change its attitude towards Ukraine, and therefore Zelensky urgently needs to go “to bow” to Western capitals.
“They want to impose on us the thesis of a civil war. And we can see that all these years, what Putin’s propaganda has been doing is spreading this lie to the world that in the east of Ukraine there is a war between Ukrainians, Russia is not there, and everything that is happening is a civil war. In fact, it’s not there... The fact that Putin will continue this line, don’t even go to a fortune teller. It is obvious that for him the key thesis and goal is that Ukraine should be divided both mentally and geographically, along the Dnieper. These are all the things he or his apologists say every day,” says the diplomat.
He believes that Ukraine should pursue a policy of deepening cooperation with Western countries, focusing on cooperation with the United States.
“If I were the new president, my first visit would be to President Trump. Emphasis on cooperation with our one hundred percent allies - Canadians, British. And, I think, it would be nice if the first visit began with Washington – Ottawa – London and, of course, then – Brussels, NATO and the European Union,” Ogryzko added.
