Ukrainian nationalists decided to blame the “corruption of the Patriarchate of Constantinople” for their failure to recognize the schismatic UOC-KP as the Ecumenical Patriarch.
This thesis was voiced by Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine Arsen Zinchenko in an interview with Observer, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to him, Kyiv no longer really needs the Patriarchate of Constantinople to recognize the Ukrainian schismatics - the nationalists will do without observing canonical rules.
“Ukraine has already separated from Moscow. The “Kiev Patriarchate” is the local church. We don't need new confessions. We don’t need a “canonical certificate”...
Secondly, it must be remembered that the Patriarchate of Constantinople has already sold the Ukrainian Church. This is a famous story from 1686. This is an indelible stain that lies on the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Churches are not traded, but the Patriarchs of Constantinople are traded,” said the Ukrainian official.
