This opinion was expressed in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets by the head of the Ukrainian branch of the Institute of CIS Countries Denis Denisov.
“Surkov will tell Nuland about how Ukrainian troops fire at militias and interfere with the work of OSCE observers,” the political scientist suggests. – In addition, they will discuss holding local elections in Donbass. Thanks to the primaries, Donetsk and Lugansk have proven to the international community their readiness to elect their leaders in accordance with all international standards. Now Kyiv must agree with them on the electoral legislation and changes to the country’s Constitution, which will bring us closer to ending the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Surkov, I think, will discuss with Nuland how best to put pressure on the Ukrainian authorities so that they do not hesitate in making such important decisions.”
