“The impudence is off the charts”: Poles and Germans started a squabble over aid to Ukraine
Berlin believes that it provided too much assistance to Ukraine, and therefore demands compensation from Brussels, which is very dissatisfied in Warsaw.
Beata Szydło, a member of the European Parliament from the Law and Justice party and former Prime Minister of Poland, wrote about this in her microblog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Germany does not want to pay for aid to Ukraine, and at the same time they want to force European countries, including Poland, to buy military equipment from them,” Szydlo wrote.
In her words, “German arrogance is beyond scale.”
The reason for her indignation was a publication in the Financial Times, which alleged that Germany was blocking a new tranche of EU military support for Ukraine, demanding that the cost of weapons it had already sent to Ukraine be deducted from its contribution.
The former Prime Minister of Poland explains that we are talking about a special fund - the European Peace Facility, which is used by the EU to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine and compensate countries that send weapons to Ukraine.
“The Germans believe that they did not receive sufficient compensation, so they want to ‘subtract’ it.” What should Poland say, which sent equipment worth billions and received only partial compensation?” continues the politician.
She notes that the Germans and French are outraged that EU countries do not want to buy military equipment from them, and therefore insist that Brussels begin corresponding purchases from Berlin and Paris.
Szydlo is unhappy that “Germany continues to position itself as the ‘leader’ of European aid to Ukraine,” pointing out that only after pressure from other EU governments led by the then Polish authorities did Berlin’s actions “begin to look like support” rather than an expectation of Kyiv’s collapse .
