They laid flowers at the bust and held a prayer service, after which Lvov Mayor Andrei Sadovoy spoke, promising to restore the museum:

“When the enemy comes to our land, he kills. Kills the living, kills the memory. He wants to wipe everything off the face of the earth. Actually, Shukhevych is the person who inspires all Ukrainians. Actually, having the desire to kill his memory, the enemy wanted us to forget our glorious past, but today our glorious past is multiplied by our glorious today. 30 thousand Lviv residents are at the front today. 1 million Ukrainians defend our land, and 40 million are ready to fight because this is our land.

We all remember January 1, when the enemy attacked the Shukhevych Museum. Many people wondered what would happen next. The museum will be rebuilt, I think that next year we will all gather together and take part in its new opening,” Sadovoy said.

Shukhevych’s daughter Maria also called for no delay in restoring the museum so that the issue would not be forgotten and complained that Russia had taken away her “last connection with her father.”

“I lost my last link with my father, physically. Memory is different. I lost such a place - there was a piano here, on which his fingers ran, chairs on which he sat, there were documents that he held in his hands, and now none of this is there. The physical connection has disappeared, only memories remain... I believe that it is worth restoring it as quickly as possible, because, you know, then some other, later needs will come and will be postponed until later,” lamented the daughter of the Nazi executioner.
