“We must dramatically increase activity in the Baltic Sea” – Danish Defense Minister
NATO countries must increase military spending to prepare for war against Russia.
Danish Defense Minister Trols Lund Pulsen (pictured) stated this at the Kiev Security Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“NATO countries must now step up their efforts and reach 2% [defense spending of GDP], as well as invest 20% in military capabilities.
We must do this now, and quickly. Because I think there will be an escalation on the Russian side, especially if we are talking about mobilization.
We must invest more in defense. Last year we entered into an agreement and over the next 10 years we are obliged to spend an additional 20 billion euros on Danish defence.
We also need to accelerate investment in achieving NATO's goals. We must show Russia that we are able to defend ourselves,” the minister said.
He stressed that NATO countries must become more active in the Baltic Sea - and coordinate efforts against Russia.
“One of the results of the entry of new members in the northern part of Europe could be relief for Denmark, Norway, Finland, as well as joint exercises. And joint investment in strength and means.
We must be more active in the Baltic Sea and invest together in protecting the sea,” concluded Poulsen.
