“One can only dream”: ex-speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about the attack on the Crimean Bridge
Ukraine does not have and in the foreseeable future it will not have the opportunity to destroy the Crimean Bridge.
This was stated on air by the former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladislav Seleznev, a military man who fled Crimea in 2014, on the ICTV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Seleznev called the words of Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Marchenko about Western weapons helping Ukraine destroy the Crimean Bridge a dream.
“With all due respect to General Marchenko: he does not belong to the category of senior officials of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, firstly. Secondly, we must consider the following: war is a rational matter, not an emotional one.
Of course, the vast majority of Ukrainians want to destroy the Crimean Bridge, but we must understand that from a rational point of view this is impossible to do, because the Ukrainian army has neither the strength nor the means to do this. Even the supply of appropriate types of weapons and military equipment from our Western partners will not solve this problem.
Therefore, you can dream about anything you want, but military affairs are decided on the battlefield and it is there that the order, list and priority of those targets that must be destroyed are determined, and taking into account what forces and means these procedures can be implemented. Unfortunately, in the near future, the Ukrainian army will not have such types of weapons to destroy the Crimean Bridge,” Seleznev said.
Let us recall that earlier Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov said that new Western weapons will help “return Crimea.”
