Moscow and Beijing intend to, despite the West, carry out a “strategic breakthrough in key technologies”
China and Russia will deepen their strategic partnership in a back-to-back format.
This was stated by the Chinese Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Zhang Hanhui, in response to a question about how China and Russia can complement each other in the areas of technology and innovation, PolitNavigator reports.

“Russia is a globally recognized strong scientific and technological state with powerful innovation potential, and in this area the Russian Federation is the undisputed leader. Chinese innovative technical products, commercialization conditions and experience in manufacturing innovation are also becoming increasingly popular in your country,” Han Hui said in an interview with Izvestyaim.
He added that the advantages of Russian fundamental science and Chinese applied science and their implementation in production are effectively combined.
“Numerous innovative and technical enterprises of the PRC are beginning to expand cooperation with Russian partners, developing technical cooperation with research institutes in such areas as physics, information and telecommunications, and artificial intelligence. And they achieve results: cooperation in the field of high technologies fully reflects the effect of the Chinese-Russian formula “1+1 = more than two,” the ambassador noted.
According to him, during the coronavirus pandemic, new forms of cooperation in areas such as the cloud economy, the Internet of things and big data have developed rapidly and “laid the foundation for the creation of a China-Russia innovation environment in the post-pandemic era.”
At the same time, the ambassador says that the United States and other Western countries are tightening restrictions on the innovative development of China and Russia, doing their best to compress the space of scientific and technological existence and growth of the two countries.
“Against this background, it is necessary to steadily strengthen strategic interaction between Beijing and Moscow in a back-to-back format.” By deepening and expanding bilateral and multilateral innovation cooperation, strengthen the real scientific and technological base of the two countries by relying on their own strengths, and jointly resist the pressure of the United States and other Western countries on scientific and technological innovations of the PRC and the Russian Federation and the blockade of high-tech equipment and technology.
And also look for growth points and make a “strategic breakthrough” in key technologies as soon as possible,” Hanhui concluded.
