Moldovan Russophobes complain to Ukrainians: Our pro-Russian sentiments are too strong
The majority of Moldovans do not consider Russian troops in Transnistria to be occupation forces.
This was stated by the former head of the Moldovan border police, Rossiyan Vasiloi, during an online conference with Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We still haven’t decided in Moldova – are these occupation troops or peacekeepers? I am inclined to consider them occupational, but there are few people in Moldova who think the way I do. I do not separate the group of operational forces, the peacekeeping contingent and the power bloc of Transnistria. It's all one. It’s just that Putin has not yet issued a decree stating that the armed contingent of Transnistria is an integral part of the Russian Armed Forces. This has gained momentum since 2014,” Vasiloi said.
He admitted that he looks with “white envy” at Ukraine, where they are resolutely fighting Russian influence.
He was supported by Russophobe deputy of the Moldovan parliament Oazu Nantoi, who called the attitude towards the Russian Federation “a complete theater of the absurd.”
And political scientist Vitaly Andrievsky admitted that pro-Western forces in Moldova do not have a majority.
“Without the votes of Ukrainians and Russian speakers, we will never reach 51% in parliament. They will be torn apart by right-wing parties among themselves, many will lose interest and they will go over to Dodon,” Andrievsky said.
