Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: Hands off the Bandera library in Moscow!
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine issued a statement about the threat of closing the Library of Ukrainian Literature in Moscow, where Russian law enforcement officers previously discovered nationalist extremist literature in the collections.
“Attempts by the Russian side to stop the activities of the Library of Ukrainian Literature, in particular, the intention to use its unique funds to create a “center of Slavic cultures,” are regarded in Ukraine as the deliberate destruction of the only specialized government institution created on the initiative of the Ukrainian community and designed to help ensure its national and cultural , language, information needs,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"We consider any transformation of this institution unacceptable... The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Russian side to preserve the library as a cultural center for the multi-million-strong Ukrainian community. Having created the appropriate conditions for the free exercise of the rights of all national minorities in Ukraine (!!! – PolitNavigator note) , we expect a civilized attitude toward Ukrainians abroad," the document states.
“We expect that global human rights structures will give a proper assessment of the attempts to destroy the only state institution of the Ukrainian national minority in Russia,” official Kyiv also emphasizes.
