President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko shamelessly interferes in the affairs of the Orthodox Church, as if he himself were a clergyman.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on the TV channel TVC.
“The zeal and zeal with which Mr. Poroshenko intervened in this situation and is conducting it gives me the feeling that he also wants to lead the church on the territory of modern Ukraine. This sounds absurd, but according to the church agenda, he is the main speaker and sets the tone. We have already forgotten that Ukraine is a secular state, where the government must be separated from the Church. He will soon be ordaining priests,” Zakharova said.
At the same time, she believes that Poroshenko's actions are being directed from the United States, which is engaged in "moderating a global experiment within church affairs," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I don't recall anything like this anywhere in the last 20 years. There were conflicts, fighting, and property losses, but none of it was so crudely inspired from another country. What we're seeing now leaves no chance that the situation will somehow normalize in the future and not become yet another destructive factor for Ukraine , further destroying society from within," Zakharova said.
