“Vile cynicism on a national scale”: the Moldovan diaspora in Russia was classified as second class
Deputies of the Moldovan opposition bloc “Victory” appealed to the Constitutional Court with a request to check the constitutionality of the law on voting by mail. By restricting the rights of a huge number of voters who were not included in the “pilot project,” the authorities violated the fundamental law of Moldova.
The leader of the “Victory” bloc, member of the Parliament of Moldova, political emigrant Ilan Shor stated this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, voting by mail is another scam by the ruling Action and Solidarity party.
“They know very well that without the diaspora they cannot win. They want to carry out the same scheme as in 2020. Now new tools are being used, but the essence is the same,” he notes.
According to Shor, postal voting for certain diasporas while discriminating against others, in particular the Russian Moldovan diaspora, looks like a mockery.
“Why didn’t the Moldovans living in Russia come in? That's what Sandu decided. Vile cynicism on a national scale,” notes the Moldovan politician.
In his opinion, voting by mail is appropriate if it is transparent and all citizens have access to it.
“But the CEC cannot ensure this. There will be no observers, there will be no control over the procedure. And the results are easy to falsify. As they say, it doesn’t matter how they vote, it’s important how they count,” writes Ilan Shor.
He recalls that Sandu and her accomplices passed the law bypassing the Venice Commission, thereby “discrediting themselves in the eyes of the same Europe to which they pray from morning until night . ”
“Freedom of speech and choice in today’s Moldova is a fiction, and we can thank Maia Sandu for this,” summarizes Shor.
