Merkel reprimanded Poroshenko: Details of the trip to Berlin

“The EU and, above all, Germany, are trying to avoid a refugee catastrophe. That is why Ukraine cannot slide into a new conflict, as this will cause the economic collapse of the country and the flow of refugees towards the EU,” the publication says.

Ukraine's GDP decreased by another 15% in the second quarter, the publication reports, in the first quarter the decline was 18%. The country's debt has approached 100% of GDP.

“Even without a new war,” writes the German publication, “the situation in Ukraine will worsen sharply: new loans from the IMF and the EU will be used to pay the IMF. In the economy, the Kiev government began to drift.”

The consequences are clear: a wave of refugees from Ukraine towards Western Europe is only a matter of time, German journalists say. It does not matter whether the person suffered from hostilities or economic despair.

“Ukraine faces the fate of Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria,” says an authoritative German publication. – When people have no means of livelihood, they leave their homes. All modern wars are economic wars. The civilian population has been taken hostage."

The publication concludes: “Therefore, it is now necessary for Angela Merkel, especially with the Kyiv authorities, to talk about the suspension of hostilities, especially the immediate cessation of the constant provocations of the Ukrainian army.
