Mejlis members: We were ready to start a massacre in Crimea, but Kyiv did not dare
At the height of the “Russian Spring” in 2014, Mejlis members were waiting for the order “to arms” and the distribution of “barrels” from the Kyiv leadership.
This was stated on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel by the former leader of the Mejlis, which is banned in the Russian Federation, and Verkhovna Rada deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to Dzhemilev, the Ukrainian authorities should have distributed weapons and allowed them to fight in Crimea.
“What could be done? Of course, we expected that from here, from Kyiv, something like this would sound: “Citizens! The country is in danger, the enemy has entered us. To arms! We were expecting this, but it didn't happen. And to unarmed people who don’t even have hunting weapons - now you’re asking why he didn’t go? This is how people who were military personnel had to fight. Do your duty, and not wait for civilians to participate in the war. But when a country declares a state of emergency, appeals to the people, provides these people with weapons, this is a different conversation,” Dzhemilev said.
