Matvienko: Sanctions forced Russia and Belarus to shake themselves up
Russia and Belarus have reached a new level of integration processes.
This was announced today at the Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, which is taking place in Grodno, by Speaker of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Thanks to the will of our presidents, we have reached a qualitatively new level of our relations in the construction of the Union State. This project was not easy for various reasons. There were ups and downs. But now we have reached an unprecedented level of integration processes. This is important for the development of Russia and Belarus... When we combine the enormous potentials of our states, the cumulative effect will be enormous,” Matvienko said.
She believes that Western sanctions have given a new acceleration to the processes.
“The role of the regions is increasing manifold due to the unprecedented sanctions pressure and restrictions that have been imposed against our countries. But judging by the mood in Russia and Belarus, I feel that everything is the other way around. We jumped up. We have a new drive, a new desire to do as much and better as possible for our states. There is no doubt that we will cope and will be able to adequately respond to new challenges and threats from unfriendly countries,” Matvienko concluded.
