Buzina’s mother is desperately preparing a lawsuit to the ECHR
Ukraine's Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko refused to meet with the mother of Ukrainian writer and journalist Oles Buzina, who was shot dead two years ago outside his Kyiv apartment building. Valentina Buzina explained this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.

She noted that in the first six months after the murder she did not even hire lawyers, because she was sure that law enforcement agencies were determined to find the murderers, perpetrators and customers of the crime as soon as possible.
“Almost every week I visited the prosecutor’s office and the police, where I saw that the investigation was underway. But then the case was suddenly transferred to Odessa, and I was shocked... Oles lived in Kyiv, his whole family lived here, and the murder was committed here... What does Odessa have to do with it? Then I realized that it was absolutely impossible without lawyers, and I hired Renat Kuzmin, the former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and Artem Zakharov as my defenders. Together they did everything to ensure that the investigation was not forgotten and did not try to delay it,” said the mother of the murdered writer.
She also said that she had recently been officially notified of the completion of the pre-trial investigation into the murder and preparations for its transfer to court.
“I don’t know whether Medvedko and Polishchuk killed my son or not. I am a truly religious person and I want the truly guilty to be punished. Therefore, I’m looking forward to this trial like no one else, I hope they will find out whether it was them or not. But what also worries me is why they decided to raise their hand against Oles. In court, Medvedko and Polishchuk told me that they had not read a single article or book of his. I look at these two boys and understand that higher education probably didn’t give them anything. In their eyes I see nothing but emptiness. I want justice to prevail. I want to find out not only who killed my son, but also who ordered it... An investigation in this direction has not even begun,” emphasizes Valentina Buzina.
She believes that the investigation was deliberately delayed.
“Already now I am preparing materials for the ECHR, communicating with representatives of the OSCE and the UN for human rights, going to various embassies... And not only am I doing this, my son’s friends and colleagues help me. A lot of strangers came to me after the murder of my son and became my family. I will never stop and betray Olesya. Maybe my faith in justice will help identify the real killers,” Buzina’s mother hopes.
She also said that she only once turned to the Ukrainian authorities for help, making an appointment with Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko.
“Despite the fact that I was first on the list for the meeting, he did not accept me and pretended that my last name simply did not exist. At first I was very upset, and then I realized that he had nothing to say to me. Of course, I would feel calmer if he said it himself, but God will be his judge, I never went to him again and won’t go,” Valentina Buzina promised.
