Maidan has not changed anything: the oligarchic massacre in the Verkhovna Rada continues

Kyiv, January 14 (PolitNavigator, Oleksandr Semenyuta) – Behind-the-scenes struggle has become a hallmark of Ukraine's "democratic" parliament. In his blog, MP Serhiy Leshchenko of the Poroshenko Bloc accused Yatsenyuk's People's Front faction of aiding oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky.

We are talking about a bill that reduces the quorum from “60% + 1 share” to “50% + 1 share” when making decisions for joint-stock companies.

According to the developers, the document will allow the state to take control of one of its assets - the Ukrnafta company, where Kolomoisky, having 40% of the shares, could block shareholder meetings.

Yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada changed the legislation - now Kolomoisky’s influence can be limited. However, 90% of the Popular Front faction did not vote for this law.

“Behind the boring name there is Kolomoisky’s real business interest, which is measured in hundreds of millions of dollars,” writes Leshchenko.

Contradictions in parliament emerged long before the voting date. According to Leshchenko, Yatsenyuk’s protege and head of the relevant committee Andrei Ivanchuk was in no hurry to consider the bill, thereby blocking the adoption of the law in the Verkhovna Rada. It was possible to achieve consideration of the law on reducing the quorum only after blackmailing Oleg Lyashko at the conciliation council in January 2015, who stated that otherwise he would leave the coalition.

Leshchenko is indignant: “When the law was put to a vote, Ivanchuk pulled out his card from the terminal to create an alibi for himself for the story - allegedly, when this law was considered, he was not in the Rada, because in the voting system he was recorded as “absent.” Another leader of the Popular Front, Sergei Pashinsky, did the same. He took out his card and became “absent”, although he had been in the hall all morning - so that in the future journalists would not pester him with questions about why he defended Kolomoisky.”
