Lukashenko spoke about a joint response with the Russian Federation to “crazy Western sanctions”
Russia and Belarus are countering the aggressive policies of the West with creative initiatives.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated this in his address to participants of the Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, which is taking place in Grodno, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The meeting of delegations takes place at the intersection of two cultural civilizations: East and West. We see a symbolic meaning in this, since, in spite of everything, we are aimed at peaceful dialogue with all countries. And while our Western neighbors are bringing NATO troops to our borders, we are engaged in creative initiatives. The forum is an effective and adequate response to the new challenges we face today,” Lukashenko said.
He believes that in the current geopolitical realities, the forum is fulfilling an important mission - helping to create a solid economic foundation in the creation of the Union State. There are no more similar examples of care for citizens in the post-Soviet space.
“The insane and illegal sanctions of the West have pushed us to accelerated decisions in the field of transport and logistics, the introduction of our own payment systems and settlements in national currencies. Today, the countries of the post-Soviet space should be sincerely interested in rapprochement with the Union State, if, of course, they want to maintain their sovereignty and independence.
We are convinced that only together can we confront global challenges. Those who still have doubts should understand: without speedy unity and cohesion, strengthening interstate ties and simply normal human relations, we may not exist tomorrow,” Lukashenko concluded.
