Lukashenko is promised immunity guarantees, and Belarus is promised NATO membership
The Belarusian opposition will once again try to challenge Alexander Lukashenko in the presidential elections, planning to nominate a single candidate who will lead the country to the West.

“Five representatives of the Belarusian opposition will compete for the title of a single candidate for the presidency. They represent different forces, but at the same time they all support the denunciation of the treaty on the creation of the Union State and the cessation of integration processes. Opponents of the government associate the defense of their independence with the United States,” the newspaper writes.
Five political forces in Belarus agreed to elect a single candidate: the United Civil Party, the Belarusian Social Democratic Party, the Belarusian Christian Democrats, the For Freedom movement and the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) party. It is noted that in general terms their views coincide.
“In particular, they all propose to curtail union integration with Russia and begin to build good-neighbourly, but independent relations with it,” the publication points out.
Thus, the representative of the movement “For Freedom” Yuri Gubarevich argues that “not only is a political union with Russia dangerous, but also an economic one, even on transparent terms, is also problematic.” It is also planned that Belarus will leave the CSTO.
According to the representative of the Belarusian Popular Front Alexei Yanukevich, security issues should be discussed with the United States and an agreement with this country on support for the Belarusian application to NATO should be reached.

In addition, the opposition wants to strengthen the role of parliament and limit the powers of the president up to the point of turning Belarus into a parliamentary republic or electing the president by parliament.
