Lukashenko “if God forbid” – will put firefighters and foresters under arms
Employees of the Belarusian State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Plants must be prepared to mobilize in the event of an emergency.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced this today at a meeting with the head of the inspectorate, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The inspection is a relatively paramilitary formation. By sending a military man there, I believed that this component would be strengthened. I instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations, if God forbid difficult times, to create a good military unit from strong men. There are a thousand rescue guys serving there. In the near future we will have several thousand trained fighters there. Your entire inspection should be under arms. You don’t need to be particularly armed. If we need to re-equip, we will re-equip. This is not because there is some kind of extreme emergency. But we are all men – and we must be ready for this,” Lukashenko said.
He ordered military training of employees, taking into account the negative experience of mobilization in Ukraine.
“This is again the experience of Ukraine. When they realized it, they began to grab unprepared people - and to the front. They had just reached the combat area. And they were gone. They were not even ready to carry weapons, let alone fight. Therefore, we need to prepare our society to defend the fatherland,” Lukashenko concluded.
