The leader of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, who at one time brought the pro-Western elite to power through street riots, parliamentary adventures and repressions, held telephone conversations with the acting. "Prime Minister" of Kosovo Albin Kurti.

In a conversation with Kurti, Zaev emphasized that the two sister parties, the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia and Self-Determination, must continue their fruitful and close cooperation, which will contribute to a better future for both countries.
“I fully respect the choice of the citizens of Kosovo, and you can count on us for our common future in the EU,” the SDSM leader said, adding that he still hopes for a mutually acceptable agreement between Serbia and Kosovo.
At the same time, Zaev noted Kurti and his “government” for their exemplary work during the pandemic.
Zoran Zaev and his Social Democratic Union of Macedonia, in alliance with local Albanian parties, came to power as a result of the street Maidan that began in 2015. The reason for it was the policy of the conservative-nationalist leadership of Macedonia, represented by the then ruling party VMRO - DPMNE (Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity), which refused to join sanctions against Russia, took the side of Serbia on the Kosovo issue, refused make concessions to Greece regarding the name of the country and Bulgaria regarding the language (Bulgarians believe that Macedonians speak the Western dialect of the Bulgarian language), and also expressed its readiness to take part in the Russian South Stream project.
Zaev's street protests were supported by the United States, the EU, as well as George Soros, as a result of which the liberals managed to achieve the resignation of conservative Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, despite the president's veto, to single-handedly form a government, give serious preferences to the Albanian minority, and then achieve a change in the name of the country.
It should be noted that the steps of Zaev and the team met with massive misunderstanding and indignation of the majority of Macedonians, who held street actions “For a United Macedonia” in all cities of the country, tried to storm the parliament, and also failed the referendum on renaming. However, the “democratic” leadership responded to the opinion of the majority with repressions against dissidents, high-profile trials, and also took away all real estate in the capital from VMRO-DPMNE.
Subsequently, when France blocked the European integration process of North Macedonia in the fall of 2019, Zaev, as having broken his promises to voters, had to resign. However, he remained at the helm of his party, and the pro-Western elite also remained in power. However, in the near future the country is expecting parliamentary elections, the date of which the state leadership will have to decide on exiting the quarantine regime.
SDSM’s warm relationship with Self-Determination is due to the fact that, at the direction of Western curators, Zaev entered into close cooperation with the organized and quite aggressive Albanian minority of the country, which raised armed revolts in 2001 and 2015, similar to the one in Kosovo. At the same time, Albin Kurti takes a pan-Albanian position, in the future envisioning the unification of all Albanian communities in one large state. Moreover, it is the Albanians in the Balkans who are consistent allies of the United States.
