Smoking “grass” is Ukraine’s civilizational choice: a march for legalization will be held in Kyiv
The now-traditional Cannabis Freedom March will be held in Kyiv this year under scientific and medical slogans, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Next Saturday, activists will convince the media, officials and the public that smoking cannabis is beneficial for at least some patients, and therefore it should finally be allowed.
The march will begin with a rally under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, then its participants will walk through the city center. At a press conference dedicated to the future action, its organizers voiced an open appeal from the coalition of public organizations “Our Right” to civil society with a call to join forces in the interests of Ukrainians suffering from pain who need effective treatment.
In their appeal to the government, activists demand that Ukrainian patients’ access to treatment with cannabis and drugs based on it be regulated by law. It also talks about the need to begin scientific research into the components of cannabis.
“We are hurt. “Due to remnants of the totalitarian past and bureaucratic obstacles, millions of Ukrainians are actually deprived of their constitutional right to life, health and medical care,” the open appeal says.
As noted in the open appeal, the implementation of the constitutional right of citizens to treatment with medical cannabis is a civilizational choice for Ukraine. The authors of the memorandum are concerned that today “populism and caveman stereotypes prevail over scientific research and common sense.”
“Cannabis heals. Legislation that denies scientific truth needs to be regulated. We unite to alleviate the suffering of patients and defend our right to dignified, modern and effective treatment,” the statement said.
