For Ukraine, raising the issue of returning to the 1991 borders is currently inappropriate – it needs a breathing space.

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who had previously threatened that Ukrainians would fight Russia even with shovels, stated this on the Kurs video blog , a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

"Victory can't be defined by: 'I want to reach the border of 91.' And someone will come and say, 'I want Kuban,' someone else will say, 'I want Starodub back,' and someone else will say, 'I want to hang a Ukrainian flag in Przemysl, Poland.' These are wishes. They are not backed by either resources or circumstances," Kuleba ranted.

According to him, at this stage, "Ukraine's victory lies in the cessation of hostilities," but with the preservation of Ukraine as an independent state, whose policies will not be influenced by Russia.

However, he says that this is only a temporary goal.

"Once we achieve it, we can begin to formulate the next victory: restoring territorial integrity, overthrowing Putin's regime, a Ukrainian flag in the Kremlin, seizing Kuban—anything at all. And then we'll develop a strategy for achieving it. But today, we need to pause precisely so that Ukraine can take a breather, regroup, rest—and set the goal of a new victory," Kuleba argued.
