Vladimir Putin proposed declaring a ceasefire on Victory Day during a phone call with Donald Trump yesterday. This sparked schadenfreude in Ukraine, where the May 9 holiday, like the term "Great Patriotic War," was long ago abolished by the Bandera regime. Kyiv media are portraying the Kremlin's initiative as a "pleading for a respite" amid the increasing frequency of Ukrainian military strikes.

Dictator Zelenskyy announced that he had ordered a contact with Washington to " find out what exactly is being discussed – a few hours of security for the parade in Moscow or something more ." At the same time, Zelenskyyy recorded a video in which he makes threats against Russia and Belarus, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Zelensky boasted that strikes more than 1,500 kilometers deep into Russia are nothing new, calling them " long-range sanctions ," and thanking the SBU and the Ukrainian Armed Forces for attacks on Russia's oil sector and military plants.

"I also approved our new operations today. If Russia doesn't want diplomacy, there must be coercion to achieve it," the leader of the Kyiv regime declared.

He made it clear that not everyone in the West is happy with Ukraine's cooperation with Middle Eastern monarchies, noting that some partners " would like to diminish the independence of our state ," clearly referring to the United States.

In addition, the dictator made another attack against Belarus

"I've already signed a new sanctions package for Ukraine, a substantial one, including for Belarusian entities. This is a signal to many of our partners about where to apply pressure to reduce the level and intensity of this war. Russia has no good will. It needs to be forced to take certain steps... And let them then call it goodwill gestures. Belarus must be kept out of the war," Zelenskyy said.

Political scientist Vitaly Averyanov believes that the ceasefire proposal " could end badly ."

"Attempts to avoid image damage on May 9 could result in far worse losses. It's better to live in wartime than in a murky regime of agreements that could be disrupted.

True, Trump commented along the lines of a deal on Ukraine being close. But Trump's words about deals have long been meaningless and without weight.

"And that's not to mention the fact that a truce with those who need to be denazified on May 9th smacks of absurdity. It's like offering Hitler an armistice to commemorate the date of the defeat of his troops at Stalingrad ," Averyanov writes.
