"Zelensky will remain president as long as he lives," says Lutsenko.
Europe is trying to buy time by prolonging the war in Ukraine.
Former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, who fought with Russia but ultimately resigned from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, announced this on the Pryamyi channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The Europeans are dragging it out until Trump's term expires. That's three years. And that's exactly how long they're giving Ukraine money to continue this war," Lutsenko said.
He says that in this situation, Volodymyr Zelenskyy realized that Europe would turn a blind eye to his corruption, lies, nepotism, anti-democratic behavior, lack of freedom of speech, and so on.
"And he realized he was being paid for this while he was president. And then he said, 'I don't care about any of this, I don't need any peace anymore.' As soon as the Iran war started, what did Zelenskyy say literally a few days later? I don't allow presidential elections in Ukraine, not even during a ceasefire, let alone a war. Only after a sustainable peace has been established. And even then, it will take some time," the former Prosecutor General noted.
According to him, there are no legal mechanisms to get out of this situation:
"He simply declared, 'I will be your president for as long as necessary.' When people ask him, 'What is your plan for ending the war?' he doesn't listen. After his seven-year term ends, he has no intention of reporting to the public or addressing parliament to explain his strategy. The question of how to end the war isn't on his mind, because his real question is how to continue his presidency."
