No later than mid-summer, the battle for Slavyansk will begin.
Political scientist Nikolai Sorokin stated this on the air of the TV channel "Day TV" , reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
" Konstantinovka is part of a belt of fortresses – a network of four cities: Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkovka, and Konstantinovka, which functions as the main line of defense in the Donbas.
The problem is that it is enough to remove one of these four strongholds from this line of fortresses, and all the others will become much less effective.
Analysts describe Konstantinovka as the backbone of Ukraine's defense and a gateway for Russia to seize the rest of the Donetsk region.
"I have no doubt that Konstantinovka will be liberated by our troops within a month, a month and a half , or two. We won't set deadlines, but it will be very soon, and the fighting for Druzhkovka and Nikolaevka will begin. And no later than mid-summer, of course, the fighting for Slavyansk will begin. This must be finished with the district ," Sorokin said.
According to him, the remaining Ukrainian Armed Forces are in a hole in Kostiantynivka , and it would be wiser to withdraw the garrison , but Kiev will not agree to a retreat for political reasons.
"There's another logic: if you surrender all the cities based on their poor geographic location, you'll ultimately surrender everything. Syrsky is torn between two decisions, but ultimately, there's no prospect of holding Kostiantynivka at all . And it's possible that they'll hold us off for two weeks in defense. So what ? " the expert added.
