The collapse is canceled: Ukraine's creditors agreed to defer debt payments for two years
Ukraine has reached an agreement with creditors to defer payments on external debt until 2024. Thanks to this, Ukraine will be able to save almost $6 billion over the next two years.
Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko announced this victory on his Facebook page.

“Today Ukraine has reached an agreement to defer payments on its external debt until 2024. We are grateful to the investors for accepting our proposal. Thanks to the solidarity with Ukraine demonstrated by commercial investors along with the official sector, we will be able to meet the needs of the state budget of a country at war and keep our public finances stable,” Marchenko said.
He noted that thanks to this, over the next two years, Ukraine will be able to save almost $6 billion to finance other urgent budget needs.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal said that the owners of securities of state-owned Ukrenergo and Ukravtodor also accepted the proposal to defer.
“This will allow Ukraine to better prepare for the most difficult heating season in history and more effectively restore the infrastructure destroyed by Russian terrorists,” Shmygal noted.
International creditors agreed to defer payments of Ukraine's external debt - from August 1, 2022 until the end of 2023, with the possibility of extension for a year.
It was reported that Ukraine was going to offer investors a deferment of payments on Eurobonds for two years, negotiations are planned to be completed by August 15.
The group of creditors of Ukraine includes Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Great Britain and the United States of America. The Group's observers include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
