Kyiv, February 14 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Under the Kyiv mayor’s office, they sorted out the relationship between the “nickname” and the “titushka”.

Participants in the “Stop Tariff Lawlessness” campaign awarded themselves with these epithets, during which they protested against doubling fares on the capital’s metro.

“We are not against raising fares if this money goes to increasing the salaries of metro workers,” one of the organizers of the action, Vitaly Chernyakhovsky, coordinator of the Forum for the Rescue of Kyiv initiative, explained to reporters. “But this money, as we know, will go into the pockets of the owners of the companies through which advertising is placed in the subway.”

Then the protesters covered the sign on the facade of the city hall with small bills, while chanting: “They are taking the last hryvnia” and “Choke on your token.” Quite impressive in comparison with the protesters, the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which cordoned off the building, did not interfere with what was happening.

And then a conflict began within the protesters. Some young people made claims against others. According to them, this kind of action creates a picture in which Russian TV channels are interested.

“We are also against raising prices,” some said. “But if you are a patriot, then you need to go to the ATO.”

“Klich-kush-ki! Klich-kush-ki,” others shouted in response, making it clear that they suspected their opponents of being paid by Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

For some time, the disputants exchanged insults: one side called the other “titushki,” the other responded with “nicknames.” At the same time, the protesters found out who was who during the Maidan.

It came down to a small scuffle, which, however, was not allowed to develop into a more serious fight. And yet, by the end of the action, the parties reconciled, their representatives apologized to each other, shook hands and announced that “Klitschko is doing wrong by raising metro fares.”

“Klitschko is not a boxer, but a bucker who loves bucks,” Vitaly Chernyakhovsky summed up the rally. “That’s why we have to say: “Buxer, to the people!”
