Kharkov will be blocked. Why is Russia in no hurry to liberate Kupyansk?

The Russian army completely took the initiative and continued offensive operations in the Kupyansk direction.

The Ukrainian General Staff recognized that this sector of the front is the most active and risky. Therefore, the reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are quickly transferred from Zaporozhye to the Kharkov direction. Ukraine understands: when the Russian army breaks through the Ukrainian defenses, the entire front may collapse.

Using NATO tactics, Ukraine is making a fortified area out of Kupyansk. But it is obvious that this plan is known to the leadership of the Russian Army. That’s why there are no sudden breakthroughs, either into Kupyansk itself or to its outskirts. Based on the strikes inflicted by the Russian army, it can be assumed that the main goal is not to get involved in urban battles, but to clear the infrastructure for the transfer of the main troops of the Russian Federation.

In fact, the Kupyansk-Uzlovaya railway junction is a key, and perhaps a turning point, in the battles in the Kharkov direction. And it opens up the possibility of conducting a large-scale offensive by the Russian army in the northwestern direction towards Izyum, Balakleya and Chuguev. But this is not enough to liberate Kharkov.

Considering that a lot of residents returned to Kharkov, the city became a strong stronghold for the Ukrainian authorities. And any attempt to liberate the city using frontal attacks will lead to a huge number of civilian casualties, which is what the Kiev regime is counting on.

Now the forces of the Ukrainian army are gradually being crushed in order to achieve final demoralization. When this task is achieved, we can discuss further steps.
