The European Union should support the demand of Rusyns and Hungarians for autonomy in Ukraine's Zakarpattia region, Gabor Vona, leader of the Hungarian Jobbik party, said in an interview with PolitNavigator .

“200000 Hungarians live in this territory. The peace agreement signed at Trianon ending the First World War unjustly tore these people away from their historical homeland.

Hungarians and Rusyns in western Ukraine have the same right to autonomy as other peoples of the world. In 1991, a referendum was held in the region on this issue, and the overwhelming majority voted for autonomy,” the politician said.
