“Exudes confidence”: Analysts praised Putin’s speech at SPIEF
Direct losses to the European Union from anti-Russian sanctions could exceed 400 billion euros this year.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The economic blitzkrieg against Russia initially had no chance of success. As practice has shown, the weapon of sanctions is double-edged. It causes comparable, and sometimes even greater, damage to the ideologists and designers themselves.
We know that very alarming prospects are being secretly discussed among the leaders of European countries in informal conversations. Sanctions can be applied not only against Russia, but also against any undesirable state; they can affect everyone, including EU members.
It hasn't come to this yet, but European politicians have already dealt a serious blow to their economy. They did it themselves.
We see how social contradictions have intensified in Europe and in the United States. How the cost of goods, food, electricity and automobile fuel is rising. The standard of living of Europeans and the competitiveness of enterprises are declining,” Putin said.
Columnist Boris Rozhin interprets the president’s words as follows:
“In general, the main leitmotif of the entire speech is that the ship is on the same course, there will be no turning back... The EU is no longer seen as a subjective player - solely as a bunch of American vassals, deprived of military-political subjectivity.”
And political scientist Sergei Markov notes that “Putin speaks very confidently.”
“It is clear that both his degree of confidence in his rightness and confidence in his understanding of reality are very high. He directly radiates this confidence,” says Markov.
