Ishchenko: Europeans will not send ships to slaughter in the Sea of Azov
The European Parliament’s resolution condemning Russia’s actions in the Sea of Azov is PR for Russophobic deputies who are seeking to ensure their re-election in 2019. European countries are unlikely to dare to try to bring their warships through the Kerch Strait, where the entire water area is under fire from the Russian military.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on Channel One, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The resolution of the European Parliament cannot be supported by anything, because, firstly, the EU does not have a fleet. There is a NATO fleet, but there are also mostly American ships there. If we look at what the Ukrainian and American military say, then sending ships to the Sea of Azov is pointless, even if they can go there. Simply because the Sea of Azov is covered not only with missile systems, but also with cannon artillery, that is, it’s easy to send the fleet to slaughter.
The resolution of the European Parliament itself is purely PR in nature, because there are also deputies there, and they have elections in May 2019,” the expert explained.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously cited former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Grishchenko as saying that before escalating tensions with Russia in the Sea of Azov, it's important to at least understand the balance of power, which is far from in Ukraine's favor.
