The ideas of Maidan are becoming shameful in Ukrainian society
The pogroms of banks and offices that took place in Kyiv on the anniversary of the Maidan could have been a technology used by the authorities to discredit the protests.

Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“By and large, the idea of Maidan has become unprofitable for politicians, for part of society it has become unacceptable and unpopular, and for some former Maidan participants it has become somewhat shameful. And for our Western partners, the consequences of Maidan have turned into a kind of suitcase without a handle,” the expert noted.
“If you look at just the third anniversary of the Maidan, people actually didn’t come. Groups of right-wing radicals arrived and used the red calendar date to gain political PR. Moreover, they played this role quite manipulatively. It seemed to me that they were part of the government’s technology to discredit the ideas of the third Maidan and any protests, since the pogroms of banks and offices form the image of the new Maidan activist as a pogromist. So all this was in the hands of the authorities. Secondly, steam is released, which accumulates in the grassroots right-wing radical structures,” Bortnik said.
