“The organizational and staffing structure, weapons and military equipment that are supplied to them indicate that these Russian divisions are essentially attack divisions and are intended to conduct offensive operations. Even in the regular name there is the concept of “shock”, which distinguishes them from other divisions and emphasizes their special purpose,” the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine quotes Muzhenko.
According to him, even the honorary names of these units “ are aimed at exerting psychological pressure .”
"For example, the 144th Vinnytsia Rifle Division, currently stationed in Smolensk, stormed the city of Vinnytsia in August 1944 ( today, Vinnytsia is considered the fiefdom of the Poroshenko-Groysman clan – editor's note ). The 3rd Russian Division, currently deployed in Valuyki, fought in the battles for the liberation of Donbas during World War II and received the honorary title of Volnovakha. Therefore, even the names of these units indicate their possible direction of action. Another division, the 150th Motorized Rifle Division, located in Novocherkassk, is called the Idritsko-Berlin Division; it once took part in combat operations in Poland and in the assault on Berlin," the General Staff press service reported.
“By giving divisions such names again, the Russian Federation is trying to cause moral and psychological pressure on both Ukraine and the European community, and also demonstrates its far-reaching intentions,” Muzhenko shared his concerns.
