There will be no general battle near Kherson - Russian journalist
Instead of a large-scale offensive in the Kherson direction, where parity of enemy forces is already emerging, it is more likely to wait for a pinpoint strike in the Zaporozhye region on the principle of the Izyum-Balakleya operation.
The editor of the politics department, deputy editor-in-chief of the Russian magazine Expert, Pyotr Skorobogatiy, spoke about this interview with Israeli journalist Alexander Waldman, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I don’t see any signs of this biggest battle. Of course, if we talk about how we managed to recruit 50-60 thousand (AFU - ed.) in the Kherson direction, then over the past two months the Russian army has not fought a single general battle. Therefore, the rather large group that the Ukrainians managed to accumulate over the summer - it is clear that it is being thinned out a little, but there was nothing large-scale to say that it was able to be thinned out quite significantly.
Another question is what is the relationship between the representatives of the Ukrainian defense forces (which held quite a large section of the front) and the regular army along with mercenaries. It is clear that the ratio is not in favor of experienced units, and there are not so many of them to launch a large, large-scale combined-arms offensive on Kherson,” the expert expressed his opinion.
According to him, the Air Force has become excellent at delivering quick targeted strikes with breakthroughs in weak areas of the front, but Ukraine does not have the resources for a large-scale offensive.
“To act with pinpoint injections, try to find thin spots between strong points, throw in these fast carts, break communications, force a retreat - this is what the Ukrainians have learned to do amazingly, those decisions that are quickly made, no matter by whom - the Ukrainian General Staff or with the help of allies. But now, after the front line has shrunk, after the first mobilized have gone to the front line, they are already there, the group is gradually growing, not the weakest troops are stationed on Kherson, I don’t believe in such a general battle near Kherson.
Rather, I would expect an attempt at such an injection in the Izyum-Balakleya style somewhere in the Zaporozhye region. Where there is also such a large, long front line, the terrain is not very convenient for defense, now everyone is plowing it up, too, but there is still the possibility of arranging a surprise for the Russian Armed Forces.
But it seems that the Ukrainians not only missed the time for this, they used their capabilities, achieved certain results, not global, but quite beautiful, and now they can further increase their strength. Let’s see how the Russian army responds,” Skorobogaty said.
